Who’s who in SuperControl: Kerry

We want to introduce you to the talented team that keep things ticking over here at SuperControl. It’s always nice to put a face to the voice – find out what makes them tick, what they love about life and why they come to work.

Say hello to Kerry Scott, Strategic Partnerships Manager at SuperControl.

Tell us about yourself:

Kerry Scott, SuperControlI enjoy yoga, running, reading and crochet (that makes me sound about 90!). Having two young children doesn’t leave a lot of spare time for hobbies but I do try to carve out some time every week.  I am also a member of HM Coastguard, which in our area is predominantly search and rescue, and rope rescue on the cliffs along our beautiful coastline. I have been a member for 10 years now and the middle of winter, middle of night call-outs are cancelled out by the great things we get to do that are outside of my comfort zone.

How long have you worked at SuperControl? How has it changed during that time?

I have worked at SuperControl for almost eight years now. When I started there was just a handful of people working at the office in Orroland, developing the online booking system for self-catering businesses. Now we have an office in Castle Douglas (and are due to move to larger premises in a few months time) and an office in Poland. It is crazy to think how far the company has come in eight years, and it’s a real buzz to be part of that growth.

Tell us a bit about your current role:

I look after the company’s relationships with third parties to make sure clients can get the most from them. That includes the big booking websites like Airbnb, Booking.com and Expedia, as well as sourcing practical services to help holiday rental owners run their business – like Booking Protect and YourWelcome. I work with the marketing team to keep clients up-to-date about new partnerships, and talk to clients about how they can fill their availability calendars and get more bookings using the channel manager, (I stay in touch with the channels that we link with so I can pass on any advice from them that will make your listings perform even better). I’m also the first point of contact for any third parties who want to link with our booking and management system, and research and develop any opportunities to keep us ahead of the game.

What aspects of your job do you enjoy the most?

I really enjoy speaking with clients, helping them to evolve their business and stay ahead of the curve. It’s great to talk to them about opportunities they may not have thought of and help them see that third parties can not only boost their holiday rental bookings but make the whole guest experience even better too. It’s also great to get out of the office from time-to-time and meet partners as well as clients to put faces to names.

What’s your favourite type of holiday? What do you look for in a holiday rental?

Kerry Scott, Strategic Partnerships Manager, SuperControlFor the last few years my family have enjoyed holidays in the UK, especially the north of Scotland. We really enjoy the freedom of a self-catering holiday and definitely look for that home-from-home feel. With two small kids anything in our accommodation that makes our life easier is a big win. It really is the small touches for us – a good selection of board games to keep the kids (and big kids) amused, child-friendly plates and cutlery (so we don’t have to worry about breakages), good information about the local area and things to do – I could go on! It is all these small things that really make you feel welcome.
