Going for gold? How to apply for self-catering and tourism awards.

Feeling lucky?! The truth is that attaining regional and national industry awards has nothing to do with luck. It does, however, have everything to do with the application process.

Industry awards aren’t limited to the self-catering sector. Across every business in every industry, awards act as a crucial way to build credibility and prestige among existing and potential customers. They’re an important marker of third-party recognition that benchmark you against competitors and act as a fantastic marketing tool to increase visibility.

There’s a host of different regional and national awards available to self-caterers in the UK. The thing is, there’s a lot of work that goes into the award application process. If you’re serious about competing for an award, you need to consider how to maximise the impact of your application form. Whether you have your eye on an award or aren’t sure where to begin, Hoe Grange Holidays is pleased to share it has just the solution for you.

Launching on the 1st of June 2022, Hoe Grange Holidays will be offering an awards application e-learning programme. In the past 15 years, Hoe Grange Holidays has won 30 national and regional awards, including six VisitEngland Awards for Excellence and best tourism business in the Rural Business Awards. Its co-owners, David and Felicity, have a wealth of experience in submitting awards entries and have a 95% success rate of being shortlisted.

As a result of Hoe Grange Holidays’ success, David and Felicity have been judges at numerous awards ceremonies and have hosted various workshops on the subject. In fact, after hosting training for the local tourist board, Visit Peak District & Derbyshire reported a significantly higher quality of entry at the regional tourism awards in 2021.

The e-learning programme will consist of eight modules that will help you to understand:

  • What makes you stand out
  • Which awards you should enter
  • What it takes to win
  • How to fill in an award application
  • The types of information and evidence judges are looking for
  • The judging process
  • The lasting benefits and legacy to your business

The overall aim of the curriculum is to help you achieve success in your next awards application. The programme can be done at your own pace taking approximately six to eight hours to complete and will enable you to go forth and apply for your award of choice with confidence.
